During this consultation, we will review our practices and procedures, and address any concerns you may have regarding your pet’s visit.

This visit option is also open for returning clients if we've seen you a while back.

6 month visit

Available for returning clients who have seen us during the last 6 months. Consequently, our 3Month, 2Month, and 1Month visits are available for clients previously visiting us within a few weeks.

What to Expect?

We do our absolute best to be as thorough as possible.

We believe that challenging pets are a blessing; they keep one alert, sharp and open to new solutions when addressing individual needs. The first behavioral examination with a new pet client provides feedback on how the pet may experience the process of teeth cleaning. Certain breeds have particular behavioral tendencies and anatomical differences. For example, short-nosed dogs like pugs need different positioning than others. The pet’s current dental issues could play a role in being face shy. Other factors unique to each pet include temperament, any history of mishandling, or trust and dominance issues. These and other intuitive factors help us understand and get a feel of your pet. Through a gentle and confident approach, and a variety of techniques, we help dogs and cats to relax. Verbal communication is done calmly and assertively by using a tone and language appropriate to the situation. We also interact with your pet through assured, comfortable handling while respecting your pet’s space. Most dogs and cats are a great candidate for teeth cleaning; however, for some this method of cleaning is not suitable.

In most cases, pets are positioned on the technician’s lap on a comfortable blanket with plenty of support to make them feel confident and comfortable. This way we have easy access to every area of the mouth. After easing your pet into this submissive position, the necessary tools with their different sounds, as well as a variety of holds performed by the technician are carefully introduced. Slowly, all teeth are cleaned in a straightforward and compassionate fashion.

Ultimately, our goal is to satisfy all parties – dogs, cats, you, and our team. We want to see happy dogs and cats after the teeth cleaning is finished. Therefore, we do our best to make certain that all are comfortable and relaxed as much as possible, and that we handle your pet in the most appropriate and gentle manner prior, during, and after the cleaning.

No worries, your pet will be in good hands.

This is what you need to know:

  • Book the Standard Visit option
  • Be on time for your appointment
  • If you can, arrive a few minutes early and allow your dog a short walk
  • Keep your dog on the leash at all times
  • Cats must be in an appropriate carrier
  • Bring nothing but a positive attitude and a happy smile

At Pearly Whites we prefer to work with your pet alone. It is easier for our four-legged clients to settle down without the presence or distraction of the guardians.

At the Barrie location, the current setup does not have accommodations for you to stay in the building. We kindly ask that you plan ahead and find an activity in the area. Have a coffee in the nearby coffee shops, a quick lunch, do some shopping or just explore the waterfront and beautiful downtown area and be back for your pet at the end of the cleaning.

At the Studio on King location, you are more than welcome to stay in the lounge area. Enjoy the calm atmosphere and use the free wifi while you wait for your pet.

During your pet’s teeth cleaning session, we require you to be available by phone or text message. At times we may need to inform you about the condition of your pet’s teeth and likewise need your input as to further actions. For this reason, please keep your phone at hand in case we need you.

We appreciate your understanding!

Authenticity and integrity are two of our highly regarded qualities which we project through our work, work ethics, and personal interactions with pets and people. You can always expect honesty, caring, and transparency.

Yes, most cats are comfortable with the teeth cleaning process. The initial one-on-one behavioral examination will determine whether your cat is a candidate for this procedure.

Loose teeth indicate that there are dental issues already present and only veterinarians have the insights to deal with such issues. If a loose tooth is discovered during the cleaning, you will be advised to seek veterinarian help in order to explore your pet’s teeth cleaning options and investigate the matter further. That being said, if a pet arrives for a cleaning with a few loose teeth, the cleaning can proceed once the pet owner has been informed of the situation and gives his/her consent.

Generally speaking, it should not take longer than one hour. However, this can vary as individual needs and differences are respected and handled accordingly; thus, resulting in a more extended session.

Currently, Pearly Whites For Pets services are available in Toronto with clinics in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Barrie as well as several mobile locations. For more information see our Location page.

With very few exceptions, veterinarians are unfamiliar with the process and protocol of pet teeth cleaning.

As a result of extensive study and training in safe and efficient techniques, we at Pearly Whites For Pets use a variety of different modalities to suit each pet’s individual needs. These were developed by professionals and veterinarians from a variety of health and animal-related fields. In addition, our technicians continue to update their education on all aspects of teeth cleaning – from safe pet handling, and scaling techniques – to the most advanced tools available and more.

When performed properly cosmetic teeth cleaning is perfectly safe.
